National latin Exam award winners

We want to congratulate our two winners of the National Latin Exam which is hosted by the ACL (American Classic League) and NJCL (National Junior Classic League) every March.  This year marked the 43rd annual exam.  The exam is 40 questions, with a time limit of 45 minutes, covering: grammar, reading comprehension, mythology, English derivatives, literature, Roman life, history, geography, oral Latin, and Latin in use in the modern world. 


This year there were 128,028 students registered for the NLE, comprised of students in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as Australia, Belize, Canada, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Republic of Georgia, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and, for the first time, Ireland.  The exam was administered in 2,989 public and private schools and 903 home schools. 


CCA students took the exam on March 9th and 10th of this year.  Awards are normally sent out in May but due to Covid were delayed until August. This year's National Average score for the Latin 1 exam was a 29.


Jacob Taron received the Magna Cum Laude award with a score of 32

Madeline Phillips received the Silver Maxima Cum Laude with a score of 36
